DocuXplorer Email Overview

This Help topic refers to the following editions:

þ Enterprise þProfessional þ Personal

DocuXplorer allows users to email directly from a Folder or Query Results List. To email a document from DocuXplorer simply right-click the document and select <Send To><Mail Recipient>. The document is then attached to the email to be sent. You can send one or more documents to an email recipient by highlighting multiple documents. Documents can be e-mailed in their original format or converted to be a PDF document as the attachment.

Email functionality in DocuXplorer is provided by your choice of either MAPI or SMTP.

MAPI

MAPI is a messaging architecture for many Windows programs, including Microsoft Outlook. If your email software is MAPI-compliant you should set DocuXplorer to enable MAPI. This is done in the <Tools><Options><Workstation> dialog box as show below. This will allow DocuXplorer to integrate your email program to use with DocuXplorer. Most MAPI-compliant mail servers will allow you to use your existing address book when e-mailing a document from DocuXplorer. For information on setting up MAPI, click here.

SMTP

SMTP is the standard for outgoing email for most web-based services such as Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail and cable or FIOS services such as AT&T, RoadRunner and Verizon. When using SMTP, DocuXplorer will provide an email interface as seen below and keep a DocuXplorer email address list of email addresses entered while using DocuXplorer. For information on setting up SMTP, click here.

If you are not sure whether your mail service is SMTP or MAPI, ask your system administrator or mail provider.
