Use the menu bar to access the basic features and functions of DocuXplorer. The menu bar will display all available functions based on the DocuXplorer object in focus. Functions for an object that are unavailable due to security restrictions or other reasons are grayed out on the Menu. Objects can be items on the Library Tree such as Library, Recycle Bin,Import Engine, DX In Box, Saved Search, Templates, Work Folder,  Cabinets, Drawers and Folders, or Documents in a Folder List View. The main menu items are as follows:

 

File

 Items display on the File Menu when focus is on;

 

Library, DX In Box, Cabinet and Drawer

File Drop-Down Menu when focus is on the Library

Import Engine

File menu display when focus is on the Import Engine object

 

Folders including special folders such as Saved Search, Templates and Work Folder

Edit

 

The Edit Menu displays program functions specific to the object selected. A selected object is described as "in focus". Objects can be items on the Library Tree such as Cabinets, Drawers and Folder, or Documents in a Folder List View.

 

Items Displayed on Edit Menu when focus is on the;

 

Library, DX In Box, or Import Engine

The Library, DX In Box, and Import Engine Edit Menu display

Recycle Bin, Saved Search, or Work Folder

Cabinets

Edit menu display when Cabinet object is in focus

Drawers

Edit menu display when a Drawer is in focus

Folder

Folder List View or the Find Dialogue Query Results List while highlighting one or more documents

Edit menu display when highlighting a document in a list view

Folder List View while in Edit Mode - when in Edit Mode the focus is on the specific index data entered in that index field.

Edit commands are also available from the Icon Toolbar or the right mouse button menu.

 

View

View commands allow users to customize and configure the DocuXplorer Desktop. Select or unselect any part of the DocuXplorer Desktop to tailor the Desktop View to your needs.

 

Items Displayed on View Menu when focus is on the;

 

All objects other than documents in a Folder or Query List

Tip:

A user can select another Memo Field to be the Preview Column. If another Memo Field is selected for the Preview Column it can not be added to the Column Header Bar. The field selected for the Preview Column will not display in the Add Fields Dialogue Box.

The Preview Column can only be edited in a Document Window.

 

 

Tools Only Options is available in DocuXplorer Personal

Active User List - a list of users logged into DocuXplorer


Library Event Log - available in Professional and Enterprise only

Import Engine - optional plug-in, menu item grayed out if not purchased.

Data Conversion Tool- a tool to convert data from DocuXplorer 3 to DocuXplorer 4


Options - set application defaults for global or local user options

 

Windows

Windows drop down menu

The Windows menu displays a list of open documents. The Close All Documents item allows users to simultaneously close all open Document Windows.

 

Help

The Help drop down menu also has items that allow you contact DocuXplorer Technical Support

The Help menu contains the following items;

 

Help Topics - opens the DocuXplorer program help documentation.

Content Help - opens the DocuXplorer program help to the topic of the item in focus on your screen.


Web Home Page - DocuXplorer Web site Home Page

Knowledge Base - web site Knowledge Base page with the newest information on known issues, bugs and fixes, and the web site Product Update page

Upgrade Information - web site page with information on new upgrades

Product Updates - will check the DocuXplorer web site to see if any new updates are available


Email Technical Support - to create an email form that you can use to ask questions and report issues to DocuXplorer tech support.


Product Registration Screen - allows user to display or input DocuXplorer Registration information

Product Selection Screen (available only during the 30-day evaluation period)

Tip:

Email from DocuXplorer can be either SMTP or MAPI. With some programs like Lotus Notes users will need to install Microsoft's MAPI email interface for Lotus Notes.
