Directory Concepts of Mansfield, Ohio, a DocuXplorer client since 2003, is an advertising company with over 300 customers nationwide, 12,000 orders, $15,000,000 annual billing and 20 years of expertise. The company works with clients on Yellow Pages ad planning, creative design, placement, reporting and effectiveness tracking. Their business like many others generates a very large number of paper and electronic documents and images that are constantly referred to as part of their business process.

Tracking their client orders and ads as paper and/or computer files had become difficult to say the least, that is until the company began using DocuXplorer. Now with over 100 GB of  documents and images stored in their DocuXplorer Library, finding documents has become a simple matter. But that was only stage one, like every good company Directory Concepts was growing and needed to improve their processes.

Directory Concepts asked for help with an idea they had -- to outsource document scanning to a disabled worker rehabilitation center. This would free up Directory Concept personnel to work with clients while the simple act of scanning and indexing documents could be performed by a worker with vision impairment. The rehab center was already equipped with the special screens that enabled the vision impaired worker. We needed to provide a way to have the scanned documents automatically posted to the Directory Concepts servers.

Using Library Replication we set-up a process where a DocuXplorer system at the rehab center replicates itself transparently to the DocuXplorer system on the Directory Concepts servers. All scanned documents and images are updated on-the-fly between the two systems via a secure Internet connection. The result has been increased productivity for employees at Directory Concepts' home office, a reduction in the cost of labor and useful employment for a disabled American worker. The cost to Directory Concepts, about $5000, is an amount easily amortized by the company in less than a year.
