What you need to know about DocuXplorer updates.

DocuXplorer update notification is automatically provided as a feature of the program.

Upon opening DocuXplorer, the program will poll the DocuXplorer website to determine if the version you are using is the most up-to-date version that has been posted to the website. If the version numbers do not match, DocuXplorer will display a dialogue box informing you that an update is available and ask you if you wish to download and install the update. DocuXplorer users will need to allow DocuXplorer to communicate to our website through any firewalls you have setup.

Users can choose to shut down the Auto-Update feature in the Tools/Options/Workstation dialogue box. If the automatic notification feature has been shut down you can still determine if a new update has been released by looking in the Help item on the DocuXplorer Desktop Toolbar. If the item Product Update is available then a new update is available for download. If the Product Update item is grayed out than you already have the latest version installed.

Annual Maintenance Subscriptions

All DocuXplorer users receive a one-year Maintenance Subscription with the purchase of DocuXplorer. DocuXplorer clients can then choose to renew that Maintenance Subscription annually thereafter. If you have allowed the subscription to expire and have set DocuXplorer to automatically notify you of updates you will be given the notification that your subscription has expired and be given an opportunity to renew your subscription and continue the update process. If you have shut down the Auto-Update feature you will not be notified of any updates or subscription expirations.

1. NEW: When "Login required" is selected in <Tools/Options/Library> a new option titled "Use Network Login" is available that will allow automatic Login (no Login prompt) at a workstation if the user network login and the DX Login are the same. You will need to create a new password in DX to enable this process. It does not need to match your network login password.


2. NEW: On Application startup DX will look for the ADS.INI in the application directory first, if not found the program will then look to the windows operating system directory. By default DocuXplorer will create the ADS.INI in the application directory. This change has been made to better support network installations and maintenance issues when a Library is relocated.
3. NEW: DX now supports MS Office 2003 products.


4. NEW: DocuXplorer now provides the ability to view PDF documents in a DocuXplorer Document Window for heads-up indexing when importing PDF documents. Special Instructions for Build 3.0.2.51:

        If you have performed a Data Conversion from DX2 some fields that should be Read-Only (Modified, Page, Size, etc) are now accessible.   If you edit theses fields, document images could become lost. To correct this simply right click on any field on the column header bar and select <Properties>, when the “Field Properties” dialogue box appears select <Save & Close>. This process should be performed for all Index Sets in all Cabinets and the Library. You can verify the process by pressing F2  (Edit Mode) in the  Folder Content List and clicking on the "Modified" date fields calendar drop-down button. If  the calendar does not display the problem has been corrected properly.  If the calendar does display repeat the process and check again. Once again you must perform this process for each Index Set in each Cabinet and the Library.

Build number 2.3.11.72 

This update includes these new features and fixes as listed in the Update Install:

New Features:

  • Users can now invert the polarity of the document display from white text on a black background to black text on a white background and vise versa. (This feature is valuable when doing Microfiche conversions)

Fixes:

  • Version counts for all new documents now start at 1 instead of 0. An existing document's version numbering will be updated when the document image is modified.
  • Now users will be able to right click on a document in the Work Folder or Recycle Bin and select Cut or Copy from the drop down menu.
  • Copy a document from one Drawer to another within the same Cabinet now includes the document image.
  • Updated support for drop down list selection in Windows XP Home and Pro.
  • Folders will no longer be lost when reconnecting to a Drawer that is empty (does not contain documents).

November 13, 2001

  • Auto-Update to automatically detect maintenance releases that become available for download. This automatic feature requires that DocuXplorer is running on the workstation and an Internet connection has been detected. Tools/Options program defaults supports enabling and disabling of this feature. This feature greatly reduces the administration requirements of a multi-user system.
  • Add Documents from Windows Explorer via the "Send To" menu option.
  • Add Documents via the command line ex. (Docuxplorer.exe <your file name>)
  • Folder program defaults in Tools/Options now supports a Global Default Index Set property when creating new Folders
  • The General tab within the Folder Properties & Documents Dialogue Box now supports a Reset Properties button. This button will fix corrupted object properties by resetting them to the Tools/Options program defaults.
  • Support for advanced third party Gray Scale & Color print driver (call (212) 496-9871 or e-mail info@docuxplorer.com for details).

Note:

We have had some reports of the new update causing an error message to be generated indicating there is a corruption in the Recycle Bin. We have created a simple downloadable patch that will fix the error. Please download the Recycle Bin Fix file and run only if needed. Make sure DocuXplorer is closed on all workstations while the patch is being run.

September 24, 2001

  • The All Documents Index Set has a new field called "Index Set Name". A Folder List View displaying All Documents will now automatically group documents by Index Set Name making it easier to see the types of documents contained in a Folder. From the Tools menu of the Desktop open the Index Set Manager and select the "Reset Field Properties" item on the File menu on the All Documents Index Set to gain access to this new feature.
  • Drop-down List of Index Sets are now sorted alphabetically. From the right click menu on the Library and Cabinet object on the Library Tree select Check Integrity to upgrade the database enabling the Index Set alpha sort.
  • Menu item allowing users to burn annotations into an image document permanently.

Imaging Component Update

Download the Imaging Component Update to your desktop and run the patch to update. This update repairs issues with the Zone OCR button in the Image Document Window.
